Legal Administrative Assistant– Family Law/Litigation

Chicago or Lake Forest office/ hybrid work environment

Berger Schatz is a high profile, mid-sized law firm, dedicated solely to matrimonial and family law; has a rare opportunity in our Chicago or Lake Forest office for an Administrative Assistant position. The Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for a full range of secretarial, clerical, and administrative support to three attorneys and office support. The candidate must have 3+ years of litigation administrative assistant experience and be comfortable working in a hybrid team environment.

Job Description

  • Supports three attorneys.
  • High level of client interaction and correspondence.
  • Set up, organize, and maintain paper and electronic files and filing systems in accordance with recognized legal procedures and standards.
  • Calendar, monitor and track court dates and case deadlines.
  • Collect, organize, maintain, and retrieve information from files as needed.
  • Create, format, revise and edit legal documents.
  • Manage calendars and scheduling for attorneys.
  • Prepare and schedule attorneys for court appearances/ depositions/ meetings.
  • Prepare and edit correspondence, minutes, letters, memos, pleadings, and indexes.
  • Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure accuracy.
  • Process and distribute documents effectively and in a timely fashion.
  • Provide administrative support including printing, copying, scanning, and faxing as needed.
  • Input and track timekeepers’ worked hours.
  • Coordinate client billing process and fee processing for monthly invoices.
  • Dictation
  • Additional duties/ projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of litigation administrative assistant experience, working for multiple attorneys.
  • Prior matrimonial law or civil litigation experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e-filing systems, document management systems and billing systems.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, willing, and able to think critically, interact with colleagues and clients, and work as part of a team.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized; Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment and produce accurate and timely deliverables.

Pay range: $38/hr – $47/hr
