This July, Berger Schatz was proud to co-sponsor the 10th annual Shawn Marion Basketball Camp, a co-ed youth basketball camp run by recently retired NBA star Shawn Marion. Mr. Marion and his sister, Quinnisha Marion, organized the camp as a service to the North Chicago community where he attended grade school.
The basketball camp took place in early July at North Chicago High School, providing three-days of instruction, practice and a tournament, free of cost, for children ages 6 to 16.
Berger Schatz and co-sponsor SunTrust Bank funded the camp, with Nike providing equipment and t-shirts for the children who participated. Berger Schatz partner Brian Blitz volunteered at the camp – coaching, playing, and refereeing (or in Brian’s terms, “arguing”). According to Brian, it was “an enriching experience spending time with families that have appreciated the generosity that a special guy and his family have now provided to this community for 10 years.”
